You and Menopause: A Short Story

Midlife-A-Go-Go wants to help normalize menopause.

I know . . . weird, right?

However, I want to get women (and men) talking about this rite of passage for millions of women. Menopause is a naturally occurring event for us, so why are we so afraid of it? Why are we loathe to discuss it out in the open? Why not talk about it, get it out in the open, and make it a part of our collective conscience?

I’m not gonna lie — “You and Menopause,” (a really, really, really short ‘film’ [I’m using that word loosely] below) may not do much to further the conversation, but I still want people to be comfortable with seeing the word and understand what it means to go through menopause. This was just something to do . . .

“You and Menopause” is self-explanatory. No, really . . . it is. It’s a mere 17 seconds, but during that time, your mind will be blown! Okay . . . not really, but you’ll be amazed. Alright, I’m embellishing again. This short story will change your life forever! Whoops . . . there I go again, making sh*t up. Look . . . just watch it, okay? Then, let’s start talking about this inevitable time in a woman’s life. I’m not afraid. Are you?

You’re welcome, Jeanine. Because I was the one who suffered greatly during my menstrual cycle, I have every reason to believe I’ll be experience symptoms of menopause well into my 60s. I’m getting my head straight so that I can deal with it! Thanks for starting the discussion.

I laughingly call it a film, but it makes the point. Thanks for joining the discussion Rebecca. And I hope you don’t experience hot flashes too often.
