Sometimes people tend to underestimate midlife women.
They treat us as if we aren’t there. They talk down to us (can you say “mansplaining”?!?). They think we’re past our prime. They devalue us. They treat us as if we can’t achieve the things we set out to achieve.
Enough.
Perhaps these perceptions say something about the other person’s confidence? But, really, does it matter? We have a voice, we live in our authenticity and we bask in our audaciousness. We know better, and we know our truth. So go ahead . . . tell yourself: be heard, be you, be bold.

Oh, Lord., I hear this SO MUCH. I just re branded my own blog to more of a midlife slant, and I really thought long and hard about it. Will people come? Will I resonate with other woman? Are people interested in this? I decided that while I can’t guarantee that they WILL come and read, I NEED to write it because it’s my life now, and your’e supposed to write what you know, right?
Tomorrow’s post: Peeing when you sneeze. Yup, I know that. I’ll be yelling my truths out loud for sure. 🙂

Oh Wendy…this so resonates with me! Back in 2015 when I began my Midlife-A-Go-Go journey, I was a little afraid. Like you, I asked myself, “Will people read what I write? Will they like what I have to say?” And then I thought I’m a midlife woman and there’s no way of getting around that so I may as well enjoy this time. Part of that enjoyment has been writing about it! So continue to let your voice be heard and yell your truths out loud! 😉

So true! It’s like we became invisible. I’m always challenging myself to be noticed! I don’t want to become insignificant just because my “looks” don’t around the male psyche any longer. I’m more than that…always was. Not sure I always knew it though.
Anyway. I love this. Totally tweeting out!

A great way to think about it, Teri – coming to the understanding that we’re more than what men may see! Thanks for tweeting AND joining the conversation! 🙂
