When I groggily slam my hand down on the alarm clock and swing my legs out of the bed, I don’t want to just allow the day to happen — I want to have a say in what goes on in my life.
That’s where living with intention comes in. If my intentions are to have a good day, I have to set that intention. Sure, sometimes things won’t work as planned because I may not have as much control as I desire, but I do have control over my responses and reactions to whatever the day brings.
So I set my intention: Today’s going to be a marvelous day!

Why I like this so much is because we all have things we have to do, what’s on our itinerary, chores that have to be accomplished but intentions is different. Intensions makes us in control, makes us the boss of our to do list, the one in charge of our itinerary, the one taking responsibility of our time. I love it!

That’s right, Haralee. For the most part, we can set the course for our day. Of course, things come up and s**t happens, but beyond that, we can play a major role in how our day progresses. Thanks for kicking off this conversation. I’m so glad this mantra resonated with you.

Living out our days consciously is really important. As I’d gotten older, I realize more and more how our thoughts and perceptions shape our reality. This is always a great reminder. Thank you!

You know, Joy, I wonder if that realization is tied to wisdom as we age? I’d say 20 years ago I didn’t give a flying flip about looking ahead — not the future, not the next month, not the next week, not then next day — unless I had specific plans that were, well, fun! My view has changed considerably. I believe I’m more purposeful in how I live, in what I do, and the steps I take towards my future. Thanks for joining the conversation, Joy!
