People want to test you. They behave like you’re invisible. They treat you as if you don’t matter. You’re ignored at every turn. It’s as if you’re vanishing right before everyone’s eyes. You’ve come to the conclusion that no one cares about you.
Your kids will do it. Strangers on the street will do it. The barista at the coffee shop will totally skip right over you. Men seem to forget that you’re in the room. The bartender looks past you — hell, he looks through you as if you were glass — to take the drink order of that young, cute, nubile twenty-something standing behind you who flashes a smile and adjusts her Victoria Secret push-up bra.
No. No NO NO!
You refuse to let yourself be relegated to the sidelines — that gloomy social desert where tumbleweeds go to die and women with no fight left in them wither away to nothing. That’s not you.
If you want it, BE front and center. Make some noise. Use your voice. Laugh like a hyena.
Life doesn’t happen on the sidelines, and you’ve got a lot more living to do!

Hot pink hair has made invisibility an impossiblity! That and being three notches too loud and five notches too sparkly. We don’t have to fade away, even if the world seems to demand it.

Laughed out loud…yup, laughed out loud! Good for you Margot for not adhering to the status quo. 🙂

You said it!
I find a really big (genuine) smile and a hearty “hello” helps make one more visible too. (Ain’t it a shame we have to even think about this stuff…grr…)
Valerie Albarda says
That’s right Lisa. We have to make ourselves known and VISIBLE!
