Washing your face with olive oil. Sounds absurd, right? I mean, don’t people cook with olive oil? And how could I—the woman who, as a teen, had enough oil in her T-zone to fry an entire chicken—even begin to think about using an olive oil cleanser or anything with the word “oil” in it for my face? Yes, I was skeptical. However, some products have a way of turning skepticism on its ear.
That’s what Pure Love did for me. Pure Love is a natural olive oil cleanser created by Albertini International.
I was nervous about rubbing Pure Love onto my sensitive face, let alone washing with it. Why? Because Pure Love contains olive oil. But here’s the thing: it’s more than just olive oil. It’s also infused with jojoba and argan oils.
I squeezed a quarter size amount of Pure Love into the palm of my hand, emulsified it slightly by rubbing my hands together, then worked it smoothly onto my dry face in a circular motion with my fingertips. After applying, I moistened my fingers with a bit of warm water and worked them across my face, forming a thin, milky layer. Ooooh, that felt good.
One minute later, after a few generous splashes of H2O, I dabbed my face with a warm washcloth. I peered at my reflection in the mirror, getting as close as the protruding sink would allow me. I was searching for the telltale sign of oiliness: a shiny residue. There was none. Gently, like a mother rubbing powder on an infant’s bottom, I stroked my fingers across my face. Softness ensued. From that moment on, I was sold.
You know how your face looks and feels when it’s not quite so clean? It feels grimy, your pores are clogged, and your skin looks blotchy and uneven. Not only do the elements wreak havoc on our skin, so too does makeup. And when we don’t remove makeup? Well, we’re just asking for trouble with that barrier that keeps the bad stuff (bacteria, free radicals, etc.) stuck in the pores and hinders the good stuff (moisture, oxygen, etc.) from penetrating.
Pure Love, which is paraben and gluten free, removes make-up and it doesn’t clog pores, leaving skin feeling smooth and moisturized. It’s extremely light and rinses clean.
The Verdict
I have to say I do enjoy using this product. I’m not a fan of pimples, so the fact that it didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or slick was a major plus for me and my oily skin. The light antioxidant blend of oils rinses away clean without leaving a heavy residue. Watch the video below to see how clean Pure Love rinses.
