Let’s talk about women in film. When was the last time you watched a movie or a TV show that featured a midlife woman being shown in a positive light? I’m not just talking in a supporting role but as the main character – the story revolves around her? Think on that for a minute.

In the meantime, join me as I chat with Christie Glascoe (also known as Chatterbox Christie). Christie is my creative soul sister and we discuss the role of mature women in film and on TV, how society perceives women in roles, and the stereotypes that abound.

As discussed on the show . . .

Stan Lee introduced the character of Aunt May to the world in 1962. Back then, she was a bun-wearing, hunched over little old lady. My . . . how times have changed.

Rosemary Harris portrayed Aunt May when she was 75 years old. Sally Field made her film debut as Aunt May (a role which she hated) when she was 66. Marisa Tomei took on the role at the age of 52.
